Three Kingdoms

I’m a big fan of Three Kingdoms. It was a chaotic era in between Eastern Han Dynasty and before the unified China of Western Jin Dynasty where many warlords and heroes rose and try to expand their territories. The Chinese classic “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” romanticized the entire era with interesting stories created around the famous characters such as Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Quan, Zhuge Liang, Guan Yu, Zhou Yu, Sima Yi and many others. If you’re a fan, most likely you know all the exciting stories that I know.

I’ve been sketching this idea of using the name of three kingdoms, Wei(魏), Shu(蜀) and Wu(吳) to form an ancient China map to show the territory of the three kingdoms. I managed to digitized the sketch using Illustrator back in 2007, and fine tune the typo along the years and this is the latest improved version.

Bo&Friends branding exercise

Recently I posted this on Bo&Friends FB, it’s a branding exercise started in around October 2014 and still going on at its final stage. From rounds of sketches, exploring fonts and modifications on computer, it has finally come to this stage with concrete logo type with construction grids and idea expansion with super graphics. Oh ya, I also experimenting the name with Japanese and Chinese, see the picture below! You will soon see the other applications on Bo&Friends’ new project later;)
